Davidson has always been a place for people to visit; whether it be because of the college or the town itself, Davidson offer something for anyone close and far. And as people visit, they always have to find a place to stay. This is where the Homewood suites of Davidson fits in perfectly. In fact, recently, they’ve been lucky enough to celebrate nine years operating as a top place for people to stay. In those nine years, this hotel has been able to help Davidson through a myriad of community service.

This can be seen even at the hotel’s ninth anniversary party, where the party was used to raise money for the Davidson Land Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust that works with willing landowners to save land in the Davidson area. Many greenways the Davidson citizens enjoy are thanks to the DLC’s hard work. Headed by Davidson local John Burke, the DLC aims to enhance this area through preserving local pieces of land, which helps Davidson on an ecological level, helps lower crime rates, and on a subjective level, keeps the green feeling of Davidson strong. Members including Russ and Nancy Gavitt, two local artist who also happen to benefit from the Homewood suites of Davidson as well

The Gavitts display their photography collection on the walls of the hotel, giving the hotel that particular Davidson feeling, as well also using the hotel as a gallery for their work. “I mean they [the hotel] have just been fantastic to us… Here it’s really perfect,” said Nancy gave it when asked about the arrangement with the hotel. These are just a couple examples of what the hotel is giving for Davidson. Other outreach efforts include a trip to the Barium Springs children’s home and hosting a local art show annually during April for the Arts.

The Homewood Suites in Davidson takes part in promoting the artistic and environmental community in Davidson. It both manages to sustain the old classy Davidson spirit while also welcoming in the new travelers visiting Davidson for the first time. It really seems this hotel focuses on helping keep the Davison spirit strong. At least, that is what the head of sales at the hotel Crystal Moniker had to say, stating: “That’s really our goal… We love it here and we’re planning on helping out.” Whether it be helping funnel some funds to the DLC, providing top notch stay for newcomers in Davidson, or supporting local artists, one thing is clear – in just nine years this hotel is already well on his way to becoming a major contributor to the Davidson community.
